Ann Thweatt has got some guts, having decided to name her music project after one of the most revered and discussed electro/indie albums of the century. That’s going to play hell with your Google ranking. You might as well call yourself Get Rich Quick or MILF (more on them next week).

Yet this Virginian Singer/Producer is totally worth digging for. Kid A’s sound is a mix of syrupy lullaby vocal and surprisingly tough drum breaks. Thweatt’s bubbly vocals float over the crunchy electro pop, sounding like a close relative of old Massive Attack collaborator, Nicolette. (Remember Let No One Live Rent Through In Your Head? This is better, anyway.)

Some of the production issues on these uploads has been smoothed-out on her new self-released album, The Neon Love. Thweatt explains that the increase in quality in down to the fact that she’s finally bought a microphone instead of using the internal one on her laptop. That’s how early in her career we’re talking here, which makes the quality of the work all the more outstanding.
