Nobis to play as we are closing in on Paris written by Diesel:U:Music on 2008-06-25 21:45:30

A tasty mixture of the mighty veteran and the lowly upstart, the D-U-M Keziah Jones tour romps on to its final two stops this week: Bordeaux on Thursday and Paris on Friday. Expect more Foux de Fa Fa than you can shake a baguette at, with the main man supported ably tonight by Parisian urchins Moon Pallas by bangin’ Ed banger SebastiAn, together with D:U:M’s Nobis and Fantôme tomorrow. The Japanese duo Nobis was one of many Japanese bands on the hunt for the hot line-up spot in Paris, and got the chance to play and travel all through their Diesel:U:Music participation.

Keziah himself? Where’ve you been. Touring worldwide and releasing albums to wet pants and tears since 1992 (and that’s just as a signed artist), the son of a Tribal chief has followed a pretty rock ‘n’ roll path to the top: sacking off his studies after being sent to London; discovering music; self-teaching himself piano and guitar; then busking around London, Paris, then Europe - forever avoiding the police, the Immigration Department, and some understandably annoyed skint relatives – before being spotted and signed up in a Covent Garden pub in 1990. Since then, his distinctive, percussive style of playing a smörgåsbord of Hendrix-influenced part-raw blues and part-edgy funk has made people all over the world smile, cry, set up websites, break up fights and conceive children. Probably. He is also a handsome devil who apparently plays all his shows naked from the waist up. So all you laydeez might wanna snap up some tickettos asap.

The tour has so far taken in further D-U-M mistresses Fire Ball and The Wilson Drama, and has been an absolute riot (not literally of course, that wouldn’t be much fun) so don’t miss the closing shows or we’ll all get a bit upset and stop talking to you til your next birthday. See you down the front.
